Why I chose to name this Blog ‘Consciously Healthy’….

April 16, 2015 9:31 am

It took me a while to come up with the name for this lovely blog. I wanted something that represented what its content would be about. A name that could feel uplifting and inspiring but also had depth and meaning.

As soon as I had the idea of ‘Consciously Healthy’, I knew it was right. The two words together, fit what I would love the heart of this space to become.

Conscious
ˈkɒnʃəs/
adjective

Aware of and responding to one’s surroundings.

When embarking on a journey of any kind, remaining (or becoming) conscious is vital. Especially on the road to recovery from illness, without consciousness and awareness of what we are dealing with, we would remain lost.

Moving forward consciously, becoming aware of what could be holding you back, and taking your journey into your own hands, is one of the most empowering things you can do for yourself.

Consciousness can also be referred to in a spiritual context. Waking up. Becoming conscious. So many of us in today’s world, go about our lives never truly looking inwards and listening to how we really feel, or finding out who we really are. Becoming conscious, is about doing just that.

Healthy
ˈhɛlθi/
adjective

In a good physical or mental condition; in good health.

I think it goes without saying, that this is a health and wellness blog.

However, my reason for choosing this word runs a little deeper than what may initially come to mind when you think of the reason I chose it.  Healthy doesn’t only mean physical health. It means so much more than that.

The longer I spend learning about the mind and body, the more I realise that true health is a balance of mind body and spirit. Someone can be super fit and able to run a marathon, but be incredibly neglectful of their mental and spiritual health.

This blog contains resources to help nourish the self as a whole. The mind, body and spirit.

‘Consciously Healthy’ represents the health of your entire being.

Thank you so much Phill and Nicola.

I’m honoured that you are the two people who have first left comments on my blog, as aside from being two beautiful people, you both have inspired me massively with your own strength and courage over the last few years.

    Lots of love xxx
